Photograph one plate beside a window

Place a finished dish near indirect window light and turn off competing room lights. Take one photograph from above and one from the side. Keep the plate position fixed while comparing how the light describes texture.

Use a plain sheet of white card outside the frame to soften the shadow side. Check reflections on cutlery and crop distracting edges. Keep photography equipment away from food-preparation surfaces and follow normal food-handling practices.
