Build a repeatable photo setup
Sketch the window, table and camera position. Record the time of day and photograph a simple reference object before the dish. Change one element at a time so you can see whether the improvement came from framing, background or light.
Keep the finished note with its date and source material. Return to it when you repeat the exercise, and add what changed rather than replacing the earlier observation.
